What is Suguru?
Suguru (also known as Tectonic or Number Blocks) is a logic puzzle where you fill a grid divided into irregular regions. Each region of size N must contain the digits 1 through N, with each digit appearing exactly once in that region.
The key constraint is that no two cells containing the same digit may touch each other, including diagonally. Unlike Sudoku, there are no row or column constraints—only the region uniqueness rule and the touching rule.
Every puzzle has exactly one solution. PencilGrid’s generator guarantees unique solutions. Difficulty ratings reflect grid size, region complexity, and the number of given clues. The daily difficulty rotates throughout the week. Practice mode offers unlimited puzzles at your chosen difficulty and grid size.

How to Play
The Rules
1.
The grid is divided into irregular regions. Each region of size N must contain the digits 1 through N, with each digit appearing exactly once.
2.
No two cells containing the same digit may touch each other, including diagonally.
3.
Some cells are given at the start as clues. These cannot be changed.
4.
Every puzzle has exactly one solution.
Basic Strategy
Start with small regions where there are only a few possible placements. Look for cells where a digit can only go in one place due to the touching constraint. Use notes mode to track candidates. The puzzle always has exactly one solution.
Example Region
A region of size 5 must contain the digits 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. If you see a 3 given in that region, you know the other four cells must contain 1, 2, 4, and 5. Check which of those digits would touch an identical digit in a neighboring region—those placements are forbidden.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Suguru and Sudoku?
Suguru uses irregular regions instead of a fixed 9×9 grid. Each region of size N must contain the digits 1 through N. Unlike Sudoku, there are no row/column constraints—only the rule that equal digits cannot touch each other, including diagonally.
